Klingons Invade Schools To Teach Conflict Resolution

San Diego, CA -- The battle-happy, short-tempered Klingons of "Star Trek" don't look like the most peaceful role models for kids -- but a group of Trekkies in San Diego are challenging that notion.

The members of the "Imperial Klingon Vessel Stranglehold" fan group regularly visit schools dressed in full Klingon garb to talk to kids about non-violent ways to resolve squabbles.

Group leader Dennis Hannon, who's known to his pals as "Admiral K'han Den," says the Klingon culture has a strict code of honor which provides good lessons to teach kids.

Hannon says Klingons keep their weapons sheathed at all times except battles, so he advises kids to talk out their problems and never resort to weapons during a conflict.

The 47-year-old accounts payable manager is also an assistant Scoutmaster for his local Boy Scout troop, and has brought his Klingon lifestyle presentations into scout troops too.
