David Bowie Brings Guitarist Out Of Funk
New York, NY -- David Bowie can help you out of a mid-life crisis: Just ask guitarist Earl Slick.
Slick has played with Bowie, John Lennon and other rock greats for 30 years but admits he hit a brick wall artistically and put his guitars away "under the bed for years."
In Slick's words, "I got tired of being pigeon-holed as the 'rock guitarist.'"
Although Slick tried working out of his funk with Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale, he only truly came out of it when Bowie came around and "inspired me as to what I want to do musically."
Slick will be touring the United States with Bowie on his upcoming tour but he's been so inspired that he's just released his first album in 12 years, "Zig Zag." It features vocals by the Thin White Duke as well as The Cure's Robert Smith and Def Leppard singer Joe Elliot.
