Whatever Happened To Good Manners?

Lawrenceville, NJ -- Whatever happened to good manners? That's what many Americans are asking themselves.

A new politeness poll by Lenox shows that 34 percent of Americans rate their fellow citizens' manners as "poor" -- which is up from 23 percent last year.

It could be that folks just have very different ideas of what it means to have good manners, because 80 percent of those same people rate their own manners as "excellent."

Some examples of rudeness cited in the survey...

-- 45 percent of folks admit they don't always send a thank you note after they receive a gift.

-- Only 28 percent always bring a gift when they visit someone's home.

-- Finally, 40 percent don't send gifts to a engaged couple if they aren't able to attend the wedding ceremony.
