Milwaukee, WI -- Poor Al Gore! Not only did he lose the 2000 presidential election to George W. Bush, he also lost the Halloween mask sales. Diana Krohn of BuyCostumes.com says she still has a backload of Gore masks which were made to capitalize on the election. She says mask sales have the uncanny ability to predict the election outcome, and back in 2000, "Dubya" masks outsold Gore masks 57 percent to 43 percent. Bush masks are still popular, with some styles selling out weeks before Halloween, but Krohn is still stuck trying to unload the Gore masks. It's too early to make a mask for next year's Democrat contender, but Krohn says she's already considered commissioning masks in the image of candidate Al Sharpton. She says those would sell out at any time of the year, regardless of whether Sharpton ran for president.
