New York, NY -- Things aren't so hot for Kobe Bryant these days, but they couldn't be better for another athlete named Cobi -- soccer star Cobi Jones. When Cobi is playing soccer for the Los Angeles Galaxy, he spends his time promoting his favorite sport with American youngsters, in hopes of making them lifelong fans. One way he is doing that is through childrens TV, as the host of a new PBS series, "Jakers! The Adventures Of Piggley Winks." The series centers around an 8-year-old pig, but Jones does an educational short at the end of the broadcast that spotlights children of different cultures and how they're similar. That's an important goal to Cobi. He says one of the things he likes best about soccer is that it brings people together -- even when they don't speak the same language. "Jakers! The Adventures Of Piggley Winks" debuts September 7 and, after that, Cobi will concentrate on making the U.S. World Cup Soccer Team for the fourth time in a row.
