'Cooter' Throws 'Dukes Of Hazzard' 25th Anniversary Party

Sperryville, VA -- Bo and Luke Duke's favorite mechanic is whooping it up in celebration of the 25th anniversary of "The Dukes of Hazzard."

Actor and ex-Congressman Ben Jones, who played "Cooter" on the drag-racing, car-chasing TV show, is throwing a big anniversary bash August 10 at Cooter's Place -- his "Dukes of Hazzard" theme store in Sperryville, Virginia.

Series stars Tom Wopat and John Schneider won't be attending the shindig, but more than a dozen cars will be on display, including the stunt vehicles used as the Dukes' famed getaway car, the General Lee -- arguably, the real star of the show.

"Dukes of Hazzard" stunt director Paul Baxley plans to do demonstrations of the show's signature car rolls and spins, but one stunt he won't perform is jumping a car from a ramp -- even though the show set world records for jumps in its day.

As Jones says, "We're not going to lay one out like Evel Knievel."
