Comedy: The Final Frontier

Los Angeles, CA -- A cast member from "Star Trek: Enterprise" is giving up the vacuum of space in exchange for another: stand-up comedy.

Anthony Montgomery, who plays Ensign Travis Mayweather, will be performing a stand-up routine at L.A.'s Comedy Store this Friday (Jul. 18).

Montgomery tried stand-up in 1996 but admits he was "pretty bad." Now, he says he's gotten more comfortable on stage and is taking another stab at it.

His act is called "From Midwest To Wild West" and is about his experiences moving from his hometown, Indianapolis, to Los Angeles. Montgomery describes his comedy act as clean enough for his mother and grandmother to attend.

While his mom and grandmother don't care much for L.A., Montgomery calls it a "necessary evil," because his grandmother continually asks, "Baby are you okay? They're not doing anything to you?"
