Adults Chow Down On...Baby Food!?!

Fremont, MI -- Baby food isn't strictly for infants and several groups of adults are going to prove that this Saturday (Jul. 19) at the annual Baby Food Eating Contest in Fremont, Michigan -- the home of Gerber baby food.

Dozens of grown-ups are pairing up into teams of "eaters" and "feeders" to see who can consume two jars of baby food in the shortest amount of time.

The feeders have to wear blindfolds, but that hasn't stopped some teams from gobbling through two jars of "Blueberry Buckle" or "Hawaiian Delight" in just 20 seconds.

"We're nice. We don't make them eat peas or squash," says Susan Gilliland, who oversees the contest that's the centerpiece of Fremont's National Baby Food Festival every year.

The festival starts today (Jul. 15), but the big events take place Saturday -- including a Baby Crawl where up to 150 babies compete for a $5000 life insurance policy from Gerber.
