Hangzhou, China -- Weblog writers in China are scratching their heads over why American media hasn't turned to their blogs to report on SARS. John Pasden, a 25-year-old English teacher in Hangzhou, China, says the online journals are one of the most "authentic sources" out there. Pasden, whose blog is sinosplice.com, says traditional media does too much reporting from afar, staying safe and secure away from the epidemic -- and when they do go into China to report they don't stay for long. Although Pasden admits blogs can be subjective, he says, "I think I trust the subjective viewpoint of someone who's been living in China for some time, knows how things work, and at least knows what China was like before SARS."
