Bethlehem, PA -- Two heavyweight candy makers are laying their claim on the crown of "King of Easter Candy."

The makers of Marshmallow Peeps stated in a recent press release that their product is "the top selling non-chocolate Easter candy brand for the last decade -- even outselling jellybeans."

The company claims to have sold 700 million Peeps last Easter alone.

But bean counters at the JellyBelly plant in Fairfield, California, aren't swallowing it.

A spokeswoman for JellyBelly says they sell 4.3 billion jellybeans at Easter time, and that they are only one of many jellybean makers in the U.S.
