Washington -- If there's any justice in the U.S., President's Day (Feb. 17) will become the next hangover holiday. That's because many presidents loved their liquor, according to the Distilled Spirits Council. For instance, John F. Kennedy drank daiquiris; Richard Nixon slurped up rum & Cokes and Franklin Roosevelt liked making "Firesides," a martini-like drink featuring gin, vermouth and orange, lemon and pineapple juices. Other presidents and their favorite potent potables include... -- Gerald Ford, who loved sipping gin & tonics. -- William Henry Harrison drank apple brandy. -- George Washington made his own whiskey. -- Herbert Hoover guzzled down martinis but claims he never had a drop during Prohibition. -- Finally, if you want to be bipartisan when partying, drink scotch, the favorite beverage of Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower and Democrat Lyndon Baines Johnson.
