College Mascot Cocky About Winning National Title

Columbia, SC (WFN) -- The Rose Bowl may get more attention on New Year's Day, but the most competitive event may actually be the halftime show of the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

That's when the winner of the National Mascot Of The Year will be announced, from a line-up of twelve different college mascots -- including defending champ Monte the Grizzly from the University of Montana.

But Monte better be up for a tough battle from another mascot: Cocky, the University of South Carolina gamecock, who crows, "I never stop moving."

The mascot title is decided, in part, by an internet poll at capitalonebowl.com but Cocky figures he's got the goods to win because, as he puts it, "The girls go nuts for Cocky."
