Thousand Oaks, CA (WFN) -- The son of "Star Trek" actor James Doohan is starry-eyed about his father -- and wants the world to join him. Doohan played "Scotty" on the original series and now his son, Chris is campaigning to get the actor a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. So far, the 83-year-old Doohan is the only actor from the original series who hasn't been honored with a star. In fact, his only Hollywood honor is a handprint at Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Chris Doohan says he needs $15,000 to get the star for Scotty and is appealing to Trekkies for donations. Time is of the essence. Doohan wants to get the star installed by June because that's when Scotty makes his last public appearance ever before retiring from show business -- at a "Star Trek" convention in Los Angeles.
