Chesham, England (WFN) -- Elvis Presley's fashion sense got a bad rap after he wore all those rhinestone-covered jumpsuits in the 1970s -- but one of his fans is out to prove he was truly the king of good style.

Julie Mundy says Elvis was a pioneer of modern fashion who set trends that are still in place today, and she's publishing the pictures to prove it in a new book, "Elvis Fashion" (Universe).

For starters, the brightly-colored, puff-sleeved shirts in Prada's latest men's collection are almost dead ringers for the shirts Elvis wore in the early 1970s.

And the black leather outfit he wore at his "'68 Comeback Special" has been copied over and over by hipsters.

As for those dreaded jumpsuits, Mundy says they were the height of fashion when the King was wearing them but "unfortunately for Elvis, he died in a most unfashionable decade."
