Bethpage, NY (WFN) -- It might sound hard to swallow, but magnets seem to make tannic wine less bitter. At least that's the claim of a businessman in Bethpage, New York, who is marketing a magnetic device called the "Wine Clip" that is designed to click on to a bottle of vino and improve the taste. Dennis Michael Lynch says it's based on the scientific principle that when liquid passes through a magnetic filed an electrical charge is created, removing impurities from the liquid without a filter. Lynch says numerous taste tests prove that magnets positively affect all types of drinks, but red tannic wine and bitter beers benefit most. In addition, he says wine experts are using his clip in order to appreciate young wines years before their time. But while Lynch thinks profits will flow from the magnetic Cabernet-cleansing clip, the price may not be as attractive as the magnets: $50 a pop.
