Dublin, Ireland (WFN) -- There's no place like New York but Dublin, Ireland, does a good job of doubling for it in the new film, "In America." The film concerns an Irish immigrant family struggling in the Big Apple, but many scenes that supposedly take place there were actually filmed in Dublin, including one that takes place in a Hell's Kitchen-like tenement. Ironically, that squalid scene was filmed on a studio set located in a beautiful seaside mansion. It might seem strange to have Dublin doubling for New York but director Jim Sheridan doesn't think so. Sheridan, who is known for films like "In The Name Of The Father" and "My Left Foot," says, "Places are a state of mind -- Dublin can be New York, because it's all in your mind." "In America" is in select U.S. cities now.
