Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- Ray Charles probably doesn't have Georgia on his mind as much as usual -- he's busy recovering from hip surgery.

Charles has always been hip, but the 73-year-old legend had surgery on his left hip a week ago after suffering an injury and will be undergoing physical therapy into the new year.

Although Charles' injuries forced him to cancel his first concert tour in 53 years, he plans to return to the stage by March.

Besides recovering, Charles is spending much of his time making music in his Los Angeles-based recording studio. He's also been busy consulting on "Unchain My Heart," a motion picture based on his life starring Jamie Foxx.
