Chicago, IL (WFN) -- A beer-guzzling author has hopped onto a new diet that allows lager lovers to drink and loose weight. Bob Skilnik is the author of the book "The Drink Beer, Get Thin Diet: A Low Carbohydrate Approach" (1st Books), which lists the calorie count of over 350 beers from more than 50 breweries around the world. The book is to help beer drinkers watch their waistline while still enjoying their favorite brew. It has helped Skilnik slim down from a husky 305 pounds to a svelte 230. Skilnik began his book when he started a low carb diet and found that diet books only incorporate light beer in their diets because there's no information about carbs counts in regular beer. He also says "I didn't want to drink light beer the rest of my life." What Skilnik found is that the average Bud has 10.6 carbs while a Sam Adams has 18 carbs. Another brew called Kandi has 35.5 grams of carbs while a Michelob Porter has 20.2. However, there's a controversy brewing over Guinness. Several different sources tell Skilnik that the stout has anywhere from 5.2 carbs to 17 carbs per 12 ounces.
