|
Oxnard, CA (WFN) -- An engineer is hoping his new scooter will run circles around the Segway. It's designed with the same technology used in F-16 fighter planes. David Roth is the co-designer of Go Motorboard's electric scooter, which uses aircraft technology to make it lightweight and capable of scooting along at 15 mph. It also uses aerospace-quality aluminum batteries from F-16 military planes, and bullet-proof wheel hubs. Unlike similar-looking Razor scooters, Roth says his scooter is designed to be a transportation device, not a toy. The device only weighs 22 pounds, considerably less than the Segway's 80 pounds, and when the battery runs down you can carry the scooter, unlike the Segway. The stealthy scooter has signs of being this year's hot Christmas item. The company has shipped its entire stock of nearly 20,000 scooters to retailers and Amazon.com.
