New York, NY (WFN) -- You might not know Sharon Glassman by name but if you like watching those cheesy TV movies on the Lifetime Channel, you've heard her voice. By day, Glassman breathlessly announces women-in-peril films like "Mother, May I Sleep With Danger," but by night, she's a "female Jewish Santa Claus" for Operation Santa Claus, an annual campaign by the United States Postal Service to answer poor kids' letters to Old Saint Nick. Glassman reads hundreds of kids letters a year and tries to answer as many as possible -- sometimes including a gift. Most of the kids are genuinely needy but Glassman says one letter came from a diplomat's son trying to finagle free gifts. In her words, "a kid who's asking for a hot meal or a warm coat for Christmas probably isn't trying to scam." Glassman discusses her experience as Santa's helper in a new book, "Love, Santa" (Warner Books).
