San Diego, CA (WFN) -- Some inventions are inspired by a lightbulb over the head but it was a hot flash that did the trick for two San Diego women.

Beverly Beck Ellman and Dr. MariaLyn Sardo have just created a line of lingerie designed for menopausal women that was inspired by their nights of suffering through menopausal hot flashes.

Ellman says she had no relief until Dr. Sardo suggested turning synthetic fabrics that are designed for athletic wear into sleepwear.

She says the menopausal unmentionables absorb the sweat caused by hot flashes and wick it away from the body. As a result, menopausal women can sleep without needing to change outfits three times a night.

The menopausal undies go on sale at Nordstrom's later this month under the brand name, "COOLZ," but they may not sell just to women. Ellman says there are lots of sweaty men desperate for non-perspiring pajamas too.
