New York, NY -- If you're a woman about to go onto a reality show to find true love, a former English professor wants to help you to win.

Betsy Prioleau, author of a new book, "Seductress: Women Who Ravished The World And Their Lost Art Of Love" (Viking), says the great seductresses of history like Josephine Baker, Cleopatra and Catherine Zeta-Jones have all used the same techniques to win love, money and power all in one fell swoop.

Unfortunately, most of the women on reality shows like "The Bachelor" don't employ these techniques and end up coming across as "desperate and needy."

Prioleau says even average-looking women can be great seductresses because it's "all about combining intimacy and mystery."

Maybe she's on to something.

Prioleau's daughter read the man manipulating manual before going off to college, came back for Thanksgiving talking about 11 potential boyfriends and is now dating a very handsome rocket scientist.
