16 Percent Of Americans Have Tattoos

Rochester, NY (WFN) -- Many Americans have something in common with Mr. Roarke from "Fantasy Island" -- a tattoo.

According to a tattoo survey by Harris Interactive, nearly 30 percent of adults between 25 and 39 have tats, compared to 16 percent of the general population.

That's not all. About 31 percent of gays and lesbians have tattoos, compared to only 14 percent of Republicans.

Twenty-nine percent of tat lovers say their markings made them more "rebellious," 20 percent now feel more "spiritual" and 5 percent say their tat makes them more "intelligent."

Finally, only 17 percent of people with tattoos regret getting them, mainly because "of the person's name in the tattoo."
