Turkey Farmer Leaving Farm For Opry

Highland County, VA (WFN) -- A turkey farmer in Highland County, Virginia, is leaving his farm for Nashville -- on a wing and a prayer.

Buck Howdy -- a real-life turkey farmer who sings cowboy-style songs -- is getting ready to make his debut on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry Oct. 3.

It's an honor that's leaving Howdy feeling a little chicken since the Opry is where cowboy singers like Gene Autry and Roy Rogers also roped music fans.

Howdy's Opry debut comes on the heels of his first CD, "Skidaddle," which has just been re-released on MCA Nashville and is gobbling up praise from critics. Still, he promises any success he gets won't change him.

In his words, "The turkeys will always treat me the same -- no respect!"
