Pasadena, CA (WFN) -- It might be time to "Boogie Oogie Oogie" to the Indian reservation because one disco legend is giving music fans a taste of Native American music. Janice-Marie Johnson -- who led the disco band A Taste Of Honey -- is now dancing into the genre of Native American music, with a new ballad "Until The Eagle Falls." In recent years, Johnson started getting in touch with her Native American roots and that meant leaving the disco in order to go native and learn the "Fancy Shawl Dance." It wasn't easy blending pop music with native American tunes but Johnson feels she was put on Earth to connect different cultures -- like when she did a soul version of the Japanese song, "Sukiyaki." Johnson says the first time she tried blending native American music with pop, she felt like a spirit was guiding her hand and exclaims, "It was the easiest song I ever wrote." She's currently working on a CD and hopes to start a stage act that will combine the glitz and glamor of her disco days with native American knowledge.
