Nashville, TN (WFN) -- Summertime is wedding season, and a duo of gentleman's etiquette experts is helping the Best Man to keep from burning himself when proposing a toast. Bryan Curtis and John Bridges are the authors of "A Gentleman Raises His Glass" (Rutledge Hill Press), and they hope to show men what not to say by including many bad toasts that come from real Best Man speeches. One zinger goes: "Rachel, I'm glad you finally came along. If I'd had to meet one more of Brad's girlfriends, I would have hung myself." Many men put their foot in their mouth because they aren't prepared, says Curtis. "If you know you are going to give a toast you need to practice." Humor in a toast is another pitfall. Curtis says, "A lot of men think they are humorous, but aren't, and when alcohol is involved it's worse." Brides can also benefit from Curtis' advice. He says when women hear about his etiquette advice they say, "It's about time."
