New York, NY -- What's in a name? Plenty of abuse on the schoolyard if parents aren't careful.

According to Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz, author of "Cool Names For Babies" (St. Martin's Press), some names should be avoided because "no one is cool enough for them" and cite "Norbert" as the classic example.

Other names that should be avoided include "Bertha," "Delbert," "Hortense," and "Hyman."

Also, names like "Tiger" "Armani" or "Congo" are "so aggressively hip" that they cause a child to "bend under the expectations of grooviness" created by the name.

Finally, the baby name bibliographers admit some names that sound dorky in one country are cool in another. For instance, "Johannes" is a popular boys name in Germany and "Lettice" is a common girls name in England.
