Luxor, Egypt (WFN) -- An Egyptologist thinks she's found the mummy of legendary Egyptian queen Nefertiti -- and it all started with a wig found inside the tomb of unidentified young female mummy. Egyptian hair and wig expert Dr. Joann Fletcher combed through the evidence and determined the wig was a Nubian style worn only by royal women during Nefertiti's time. Other clues that convinced Fletcher came from her examination of the mummy itself; namely, a gaping hole in the face which suggested someone smashed it in a manner similar to the many defacements on images of Nefertiti. Dr. Fletcher also believes the mummy's unique double-pierced ear and shaven head are signs this is the famed Egyptian beauty. Another piece of evidence suggests Nefertiti may have briefly ruled Egypt as Pharoah: her amputated right forearm was found bent like a pharoah clutching a scepter. Dr. Fletcher's research is documented in the Discovery Channel special "Nefertiti Resurrected," airing August 17 in the U.S.
