New York, NY (WFN) -- A new poll is getting to the root of American women's relationship with their hair.

The survey by hair care expert Charles Worthington shows 79 percent of women spend 20 minutes styling their hair every morning.

That's a long time to fiddle with your locks, but it's necessary, if you consider the alternative: 22 percent of the ladies say they fight with their boyfriends or husbands when they're having a bad hair day.

And 18 percent refuse to leave the house when they're having a "hair-don't."

-- New York ladies suffer from frizzy hair the most (40 percent).

-- And finally, 35 percent of women say they'd rather have great hair than great sex for the rest of their lives.
