Las Vegas, NV (WFN) -- If you want to play golf like pro Lee Trevino you may want to practice with a Dr. Pepper bottle.

That's the advice of organizers of this weekend's Best Western's People Vs. the Pros tournament, where 100 amateurs will be whittled down to two finalists who will compete against Trevino and fellow pro John Daly on Monday's (Jun. 2) finals in Las Vegas.

To level the playing field, the final round uses a handicap system to give the amateur a fighting chance against the two pros.

But organizers of the event know Trevino is still tough to beat. One spokeswoman says he got his start in Dallas hustling players on the course by betting them he could beat them using a Dr. Pepper bottle taped to a stick instead of a golf club.

Trevino won't be using his pop-bottle-on-a-stick in the tournament, but if the amateurs should win, they'll each walk away with $100,000 in their pocket.
