|
Los Angeles, CA -- It's news that might make Beethoven roll over: A classical pianist admits he prefers Radiohead to any dead composer. Christopher O'Riley makes his living playing Mozart and Brahms but, truth be told, likes Radiohead better. O'Riley rocks out to Radiohead so much that he's putting out a solo classical CD of the band's music next month, "True Love Waits," tackling tunes like "Fake Plastic Trees" and "Karma Police." He says Radiohead's music lends itself to classical interpretations because there are often three guitars playing separate unique patterns that he can stretch out and improvise. O'Riley's music is getting good buzz from the band's notoriously picky fans -- but he has yet to hear from band members. He's hoping they like it enough to invite him to open their shows -- especially because he can play songs like "Letdown," that are too complex for Radiohead to perform live.
