Hamburg, Germany (WFN) -- The German port of Hamburg, where hamburgers are said to have originated, has been offered $10,500 to change its name to "Veggieburg" by the animal activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. It looks unlikely that Hamburg will change its name. A city government spokesman was quoted saying, "I cannot afford to waste my time with this." BANGKOK, Thailand -- Prisoners in Thailand will try to laugh their cares away today by holding a laughing contest to ease stress in overcrowded prisons. The inmate whose laugh is deemed "most contagious" by a judge will win a trophy, with mentally-ill prisoners being particularly encouraged to participate. The prisons have already tried meditation, choir singing, cooking lessons and soccer tournaments to ease the stress of the convicts. CARLISLE, Pa. -- An enterprising prankster at a high school in Carlisle, Penn., has pulled the wool over many parents' eyes with a letter that told them the school would provide condoms and hotel rooms to seniors on prom night. The letter -- on school district letterhead -- also asked parents to drop off donations of sex toys at the school, reports the Harrisburg "Patriot-News." VANCOUVER, Wash. -- You've heard of topless bars -- but what about bottomless drive-thrus? Employees at a Vancouver, Wash., McDonald's called the cops after one drive-thru patron picked up his meal without his pants on. The suspect told police he removed his underwear because they were wet and uncomfortable and he didn't mean to scare employees.
