|
Spartanburg, SC -- The Marshall Tucker Band is getting a landslide of publicity thanks to the Dixie Chicks. Tomorrow night (May 1), the southern rockers will be performing a charity concert for military families in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Ordinarily, that wouldn't be news but the Dixie Chicks also begin their U.S. tour in the same town that same night. As a result, the MTB is getting its biggest publicity in years because all the news networks are sending crews to Spartanburg in hopes of seeing a patriotic cat fight between the two bands. Don't expect that to happen. Marshall Tucker leader Doug Gray says he isn't anti-Dixie Chicks. He feels Natalie Maines made a mistake speaking out against President Bush but defends her right to do so. However, Gray also defends the right for Chicks fans to protest by attending his show instead. Anyone who exchanges their Chicks tixs for a Tucker ticket gets to meet the band. It seems to be working. A few hundred Chicks fans have already taken the offer.
