| 2003-04-28 - Weird News Wireless Flash News Doggie Translator Coming To U.S. | ||
|
New York, NY (WFN) -- A Japanese toy company that created a device that translates a dog's barks into words will soon release an English version in the U.S. Takara U.S.A., which created Transformers in the 80's, is hoping to have a big hit with the Bowlingual, a microphone that attaches to a dogs collar. The conversational collar also comes with a handheld device that translates the barks, snarls and yips for humans. Currently, the doggone device only translates dog talk into Japanese, but an English version will hit the U.S. in August. The boneheaded device sounds like it could spell the end for intuitive animal communicators like San Diego-based Brigitte Noel but she's not worried she'll be replaced by technology. Although Noel says she doesn't doubt that it works and can find out if a dog is happy or sad, but she says it's not likely to tell an owner WHY a dog is sad like she can.
