Carmel, NY (WFN) -- You learn a lot while traveling -- like whether or not it really stinks in Stinking Point, Virginia. That's the word from photographer Gary Gladstone, who recently traveled across the U.S. visiting towns with really bizarre names for a new book, "Passing Gas" (Ten Speed Press). For instance, there's Stinking Point, which he says is actually a very nice town on the edge of the Potomac River that got its name during the Civil War when a ship sank and the dead bodies washed ashore. Other cities with strange names include Panic, Pennsylvania, which, despite its name, is actually a peaceful place. On the other hand, Gladstone says Dull, Ohio and Boring, Oregon, live up to their names. But he says his ideal paradise can be found ten miles from Hell -- Hell, Michigan, that is.
