|
Los Angeles, CA -- For $100,000, you could have a set of recording equipment fit for a King -- of rock 'n' roll, that is. The original gear from Sun Records studio -- where Elvis Presley recorded many of his early hits -- is going on sale this Sunday (Mar. 16) at the auction house Bonhams & Butterfield. Estimated to fetch between $100,000 to $150,000, the lot includes a recording console, two-track tape machine, speaker and mastering lathe, among other pieces. Also on the auction block is a karate outfit personally sweated in by Elvis. The white coat and pants with red satin trim includes a red sash embroidered with "Elvis Presley" and is estimated to go for $70,000 to $90,000 despite some "very light soiling." -- A bound copy of a 1945 paternity suit brought against Charlie Chaplin by actress Joan Berry is going for $800 to $1500. -- Finally, Buddy Holly's first guitar -- including an amp inscribed with his name -- is set at $70,000 to $90,000.
