	2003-01-14 - Weird News Wireless Flash News Super Bowl Is Super Addictive For Gamblers

Bradley Beach, NJ (WFN) -- The Super Bowl might need to be called the Gambler's Bowl. Recovering gambler Arnie Wexler, who counsels compulsive gamblers with the help of his wife, says he expects to get "tons" of desperate losers calling him before and after the Super Bowl. One extreme case last year was from a sad soul who bet and lost $22,000 on the toss of a coin before the game even started. Arnie says the man took the bet because he was so anxious to gamble he couldn't wait for the game to start. Another alarming call came from a 14-year-old girl who was bookmaking at her high school. Wexler says when she came up short in her payouts she turned to selling drugs to cover her debts. Finally, a 19-year-old male called seeking help after he embezzled $20,000 from his company, lost it, then headed to Atlantic City to try and win it back. Sadly, he says the average caller owes more than $40,000.
