Nashville, TN -- A Nashville musician who gets his kicks sending prank letters knows what it's like to have the joke on him. For years, Sterling Huck has been sending out bizarre letters to corporations, including a letter asking a sunglass company to make a sunglasses-style monocle and a missive telling department store executives he was the "world's foremost sculptor of roadside Gorilla statues." Many times Huck gets a form letter response but one woman told him he was "insane" after he suggested a line of "manic-depressive straws." Others take Huck's huckstering too seriously, like impressionist Fred Travalena, who believed Huck's letter claiming his parrot could imitate Regis Philbin. Travalena even tried to get the bird on Reege's show before Huck was forced to admit it was just a bird-brained stunt. Although Huck says he feels a little guilty, he can't be feeling that bad. He's just compiled his kooky correspondence into a book, "The Sterling Huck Letters" (Rutledge Hill).
