Los Angeles, CA -- Many pop songwriters are focused on finding the future of hit music -- but the one who wrote tunes for Jennifer Beals for a recent TV movie had to travel back in time. Bruce Roberts, who penned Barbra Streisand's 1979 hit "Enough Is Enough," was recently hired to write a 1980s-style dance track for Beals' rock diva character in the VH1 movie, "The Shoot Divas, Don't They?" He says to write the synth-pop song "Slow Burn," he immersed himself in 1980s music -- to the point where he felt like he was living in 1982 and working on a song for Pat Benatar. Roberts calls this technique the "Stanislavski Method Of Songwriting," because it's just like method acting. So, how was actress Beals as a singer? Excellent, says Roberts, who notes Beals only needed three takes to perfect the tune's Shakira-like warblings. "She could certainly have a future in pop music if she wanted to," he adds.
