'Junkamation' To Salvage Africa Animation Industry?

Harare, Zimbabwe -- A producer in Harare, Zimbabwe, is the first to admit his animated film is junk -- every frame of it.

But Phil Cunningham isn't trashing his film, he's telling the truth. Every character and background in the upcoming film, "The Legend Of The Sky Kingdom," is made from trash collected by the animators.

Cunningham says the look was inspired by Zimbabwe street artists who commonly turn old junk into new things.

For instance, a bicycle chain is turned into a crocodile named "Sly" and a bunch of broken computers, vacuum cleaners, typewriters and stoves are used to portray a forest.

"The Legend Of The Sky Kingdom" won't be released until next year but Cunningham is already trashing his next film.

He says three crew members are assigned to collect junk for the film full-time and locals are "promising to save their best junk for us."
