Cut Chemist Has Bone To Pick With Hip Hop Fans

Los Angeles, CA -- He may be one of the best-known DJs in hip hop, but Los Angeles' Cut Chemist has a bone to pick with hip hop fans.

Cut Chemist, born Lucas MacFadden, says he's always been into 1980s-era "old school hip hop" but lately he's been feeling too old school for his audience.

According to the DJ, kids come to his shows who weren't even born when the music he loves was on the radio.

"All these 14-year-old kids are, like, saying 'old school! Old school' and I'm like 'What are you talking about?!" he says.

Despite the fact that his shows are well-attended, Cut Chemist says the young audience makes him feel like the music he loves is irrelevant and that has made him try to make his own music more futuristic and abandon old school-styles altogether.

And that's just what he says he did for his side-project, Jurassic 5's, latest record, "Power In Numbers," which comes out Oct. 8.
