Manhattan Beach, CA -- You may not recognize artist Phil Roberts' name -- but if you're a fan of silly 1980's sex comedies, you've seen his work. Roberts is the "artiste" responsible for the cartoon-like posters for 1980's party flicks like "Hot Dog: The Movie, Hamburger: The Motion Picture" and Rodney Dangerfield's "Back To School." These days, Roberts uses his wacky caricature style on posters for kiddie features like "The Wild Thornberrys Movie" -- but he still has one party-hearty project on his plate: Pimp Suits. He's just designed a flashy crushed velvet and zebra fur pimp-style suit that's being sold at the online "pimp store" Pimphats.com. Roberts says the gig came after he drew up a pimp caricature for the website and it's been a "really fun thing to do on the side." Maybe a little too fun. He says to prepare for the job, he rented a bunch of 1970s pimp movies and spent the evening imitating the characters.
