Will 'El Cid' Remake Bring Peace To Christians And Muslims?

Hollywood, CA -- A Hollywood producer is hoping to unite Christians and Muslims in a common cause: Seeing his next movie.

Arthur Sarkissian, who produced both "Rush Hour" films, is now planning to remake the 1961 epic, "El Cid," which is based on a man who lived in Spain during the 12th century.

The original film starred Charlton Heston as a Spanish leader who inspired Christians and Muslims to stand up against a fanatical Muslim leader who Sarkissian says was similar to Osama bin Laden.

Sarkissian believes the film will bring modern followers of both religions together since the real El Cid befriended some Muslim kings during his battles against Yusef.

Sarkissian hopes to release his "El Cid" remake in 2004 but has yet to cast the film. However, he admits native Spaniard Antonio Banderas is high on his wish list.
