Women Will Rule In Upcoming 'Combat Chess' Match

Chicago, IL -- Like a woman who can handle a sword? Well, some real-life warrior princesses will be strutting their stuff at an upcoming event in Chicago.

On May 4th and 5th, an all-female stage combat troupe called Babes With Blades will be facing off against another female-dominated team from R&D Choreography in a match of "Combat Chess."

For those not in the know, "Combat Chess" is played just like the board game, only the game pieces are human beings.

The combatants will face off on a 24-by-24 foot square chess board and as each piece is captured, they'll spar with an assortment of weapons including broadswords, spears and whips.

Babes With Blades founder Dawn "Sam" Alden admits that the chess match will be scripted for safety reasons, but says the game has an "open ending" so neither team is guaranteed a win.
