Benji Look-A-Like Howling Over Lost Opportunity

Hollywood, CA -- A dog in Hollywood is howling up a storm because she missed her big chance to audition for the new Benji film.

The nationwide search for the new Benji ended December 14 when Benji creator Joe Camp selected a dog found at an animal shelter in Pass Christian, Mississippi.

However, Michelle Hart, owner of a Benji look-a-like named Starr, has a bone to pick: She only found out about the search days ago and thinks her mutt is worthy of an audition.

She claims Starr can dance and obeys commands in three languages, and, like the new Benji, is an adopted dog too.

Hart is hoping Camp throws Starr a bone by auditioning her, but thinks the dog would also be happy as a poster pooch for animal therapy with sick folks.

However, a spokeswoman for Camp says he never accepts already-adopted dogs because that'd be like splitting up a family.
