Pleasanton, CA -- It was supposed to be Peter Brady -- not Greg Brady -- who boxed against Danny Partridge in Fox's "Celebrity Boxing" special.

That news comes straight from the Brady's mouth -- that is, Christopher Knight, who played Peter.

Knight says he was the initial Brady approached for the special, because he and "The Partridge Family's" Danny Bonaduce had wrestled each other about 10 years ago as a publicity stunt.

He says he turned down the boxing show because of dignity issues and also because -- in his words -- "I just couldn't see it working."

Knight -- who is now a computer executive -- says he was concerned when he heard TV brother Barry Williams was taking his place in the ring, and didn't enjoy watching Williams get creamed.

In his words, "I don't want to watch people I like fail like that -- it gets too brutal."
