Los Angeles, CA -- He's starred in plenty of romances -- but now Billy Dee Williams is trying his hand at writing one.

This year, the legendary ladies' man released his first romance novel, "Twilight" (Tor Books), about a passionate affair between a female judge and a Hollywood actor who bears a striking resemblance to Williams.

"The main character, a lot of it is me," admits Williams. "I've lived such an interesting life that rather than do a biography, I'd rather use it in a story."

Williams co-authored the book with romance novelist Elizabeth Atkins Bowman and says it fulfills a longtime dream for him.

The 65-year-old actor may write another romance soon, but is also juggling painting and acting projects.

"I have to stay busy; it's an absolute necessity for me," Williams explains. "Besides, that way, I don't mess around with a lot of these beautiful women."
