San Diego, CA -- If Robert Blake needs a character witness in court, he can count on the bully from the "Little Rascals."

Former child actor Tommy Bond -- better known as "Butch" from the "Our Gang" shorts -- has known Blake for 60 years and believes his pal is merely a scapegoat for the Los Angeles Police Department.

Bond has spoken with Blake since the May 2001 murder and says the actor told him straight: "I didn't do it" and "They're after me."

Some of Blake's other friends might be distancing themselves, but Bond says he'll stand up in court for his friend and will do the same for the other "Rascals" because "'Our Gang' sticks together."

In fact, Bond is still trying to solve the 1959 death of his best friend, Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer, who was shot by a man who claimed the former child star attacked him with a knife.

Although the shooting was later ruled a "justifiable homicide," Bond claims Alfalfa was framed.
