New York, NY (WFN) -- The jam band Moe might be known as a hippie favorite but the band's guitarist says Moe is not your typical "dredlocked, parking lot camping hippie jam band."

Al Schnier says while Moe has been lumped in with other hippie bands, the members actually have a punk background and enjoy "...turning things up to 11 just as much as laying down a stony groove."

Schnier says he likes the Grateful Dead "like everybody else" but also likes the Clash and that pushes him to be more aggressive.

He hopes the band's fans can appreciate that.

Moe will play the massive jam band fest, the Moe or Les Festival, July 12-13 in Morgantown, West Virginia, before heading into the studio to record their next album.
