Effingham, IL -- Some Corvette owners are so protective they won't drive their car in the rain, but one auto parts supplier is hoping to convince a bunch of them to wheel their "babies" to work this Friday (Jun. 28).

It's all in honor of "Take Your Corvette To Work Day," which has been designated by the Illinois-based Corvette parts supplier Mid America Direct.

A company spokesman thinks Corvette owners will turn out "en masse" because, in his words, "Everyone who owns a Corvette is looking for an excuse to drive it."

But Nathan Sheets also admits some of those who drive their beloved sports cars to the office will take special caution to avoid nicks and scratches -- such as parking in an isolated corner of the employee parking garage.

And, honestly, some folks participating in Take Your Corvette To Work Day won't exactly be heading to the office: Sheets knows a Corvette club in St. Louis that's planning to caravan to a riverboat casino instead.
